From Saturday 19 to Sunday 20 August 2023, from Jasná to Bratislava, the unique relay race From the Tatras to the Danube was run once again. The somewhat „our“ team captain and a runner in body and soul, Romana Komárňanská, sees this sporting event across Slovakia like this: „This race brings plenty of experiences, memories and new friendships. But, I admit, it is a real „wrecker“, so you have to come to terms with the fact that the fatigue lasts for several weeks, because regeneration, sleep, proper nutrition and hydration are difficult during it.“
She stood on the winners’ podium with the ROMI RUN WOMEN A team, in T-shirts with the CDESK logo and with the support of our company Inova Logic. That support went towards sportswear for all ROMI runners, tents for overnight stays and accommodation for the teams the day before the start of the race in Jasná. There were three teams named ROMI: „I don’t like saying my teams; together we created three teams in this 11th edition, which means 36 runners. The fact that we all arrived at the finish safe and sound is a greater victory for me than the victory itself,“ added Romana.
She completed this year’s From the Tatras to the Danube race for the fifth time, and after it finishes she always declares never again. Because to run 345 km in a relay format, when everyone has to manage three stages whether it is raining, hot, night, or they are in a crisis, means two extremely demanding days. The binding feeling is that everyone runs not only for themselves, but also for everyone else. However, everyone shares the problems during the race, even the best: pain throughout the body, stomach problems, fear of the night stage, of extreme heat,… But in the end, most of them cannot resist the excellent atmosphere of the race. And it seems that next year Romana will be at the start again and once again inspire her fellow runners.
This year’s edition was exceptional for the ROMI teams! ROMI RUN WOMEN A won in their category, WOMEN B finished in 4th place and ROMI RUN MEN placed 6th in very tough competition. And that out of 191 teams that traditionally surpass themselves in a non-stop race across Slovakia.
